EIN# 99-3338641
We’re empowering minds, one library at a time
We set up free, easily accessible, 24/7 outdoor libraries and distribute books to family shelters, women’s safe houses, low-income neighborhoods, and under resourced communities across the USA, aiming to open doors to the literary world, provide joy, and transform lives.

Promoting literacy, a love of reading, and spreading smiles for people of all ages…

About Us
Everyone’s Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to promoting literacy and providing 24/7 access to free books nationwide. Founded by a high schooler from Northern Virginia, our team is passionate about making books accessible to all across USA.
Mission
By installing free libraries and distributing books to shelters, schools, and under-resourced communities, we aim to remove barriers to accessing libraries, such as overdue fines, transportation issues, and membership cards. We help kids find comfort and hope, support adults in gaining independence, and offer elderly residents a source of joy through books. We aim to inspire a lifelong love of reading and believe in the transformative power of books.
Our Founder and Inspiration

Tara
Founder and CEO
Avani (Tara) Bansal, a high school student in Northern Virginia, built the first mini-library from scratch as part of her Girl Scout project and placed it at the Katherine Hanley Family Shelter, VA in 2022. Seeing the excitement on the faces of children and parents alike as they eagerly picked up free books, she was inspired to build more libraries for shelters across the DMV area, with a focus on providing books to everyone, no matter their age or background. After receiving more requests, she founded Everyone’s Library, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on installing mini-libraries, organizing book drives, and facilitating book donations/community events.
An avid reader and creative thinker, Tara is passionate about sharing her love of books with others, offering them an escape into the enriching world of reading. A Scholastic award-winning poet, Tara is the illustrator of Roar, a 5-star children’s book focused on empowerment, and hopes to share the creativity and joy libraries bring to her to other communities.

Testimonials

"The installation of The Little Library has encouraged those who are transitioning from homelessness back into the community...The words and pictures from each book, take the imagination to heights, depths and corridors that are beyond the current circumstances for those who are experiencing homelessness. Each word lands as colorful butterflies and brings joy, gladness and laughter that lights up the mind of the readers. We appreciate the gracious wonder that The Little Library brings to Katherine Hanley Family Shelter."

"Thank you for bringing the joy of reading to our students! It was truly wonderful to have Everyone’s Library at Annandale Terrace Elementary. I sincerely appreciate your generous donation and the positive impact you are making on childhood literacy. Our SCA helpers, teachers, and students all enjoyed the event, and I’m grateful for your recognition of their enthusiasm and engagement. We would love to stay connected and explore future opportunities to collaborate. Thank you again for your kindness and dedication to fostering a love of reading!"

"Thank you to our friends at @everyoneslibrarynonprofit for installing a free library at the top of our bus loop! We invite our community members to use the library to leave or take a book for people of all ages! We are grateful to Tara Bansal, CEO of Everyone’s Library, and her team for installing and stocking the library for our community. We thought it was especially cool that this nonprofit started as a Girl Scout project, and are also hopeful that the library will also inspire our Scouts here at Westlawn!"

"We were honored to join our partner school [Hillcrest Heights Elementary] for the dedication of their brand new Little Library by Everyone's Library! Seeing the students’ excitement as they gained 24/7 access to books was truly inspiring. This small structure represents something big — the power of literacy, the promise of imagination, and the importance of equal access to learning. In a community where resources are limited, this library is more than a box of books — it’s a beacon of hope."
